Alex’s Wish announces the return of its annual Charnwood Forest Cycle Ride

Alex’s Wish Charnwood Forest Cycle Ride is a favourite fixture on the Leicestershire charity’s calendar, and this year’s sponsored event  is even more special.

The charity turns 10 this year and hopes even more people will ‘Be More Alex’ – getting on their bikes to help raise money and celebrate this milestone birthday.

After two years of not being able to run the event,  Alex’s Wish is excited to announce that this year’s ride is on Sunday May 15 and starts at 7.30am from The Rothley Village Centre. To allow for all fitness levels, cyclists have the choice of riding 10 miles, 20 miles or 50 miles.

Alex’s Wish is dedicated to finding new treatments and ultimately a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy which affects one in every 3,500 boys. Founded by Emma Hallam,  the charity is named after her teenage son, Alex, who lives with Duchenne. Its slogan, Be More Alex , is in recognition of  Alex’s positive outlook on life.

The 2022 cycle ride is being sponsored by Spirit Healthcare, Next, Two New Street Chambers, Greens Consultancy, KRS Estate Planning, Bradleys, Ben’s Kitchen, Nuffield Health, Flexpress, Pedal Power and Jay Webb Consultancy.

Emma said: “Our sponsored  cycle  ride through beautiful Charnwood Forest  is always great fun and very well-supported. We’re so grateful to our wonderful sponsors and of course to all our cyclists, some  of whom have taken part in this event many times before. We look forward to seeing them again and to attracting new riders as we celebrate our 10th birthday.”

Free parking in Rothley village is available to all members of Team Alex’s Wish. Riders will also be offered refreshments along the way and complementary homemade cakes.  All riders will receive a unique 10th Year medal when they complete the ride.
