Local parent-led charity, Alex’s Wish, have made the tough decision to postpone their annual Charnwood Forest Cycle ride for the second year running.

Emma Hallam, Founder and CEO of Alex’s Wish, spoke of the decision saying, “Whilst we have a pathway out of lockdown we decided to make the extremely hard decision to postpone our Charnwood Forest Cycle ride until next year.

“We have to, first and foremost, consider not only the health and safety of our participants, but also of our volunteers as well as all the communities that the Charnwood Forest Cycle Ride passes through.  Over the years these communities have supported our event in so many wonderful ways and we feel that it would not be right to encourage large groups of people to pass through their towns and villages at this time.  Whilst we know that this is disappointing news for many and, indeed for Alex’s Wish, we hope people can see and understand the importance of keeping our team, volunteers, attendees and the local community at large safe in these still challenging times.”

Emma continued saying, “We will be back in 2022 when we’ll be celebrating our 10th Charnwood Forest Cycle Ride in our 10thanniversary year!  Once we’ve been able to confirm with the venue our new date I’ll make sure that I share that news with everyone.  For those who would still like to support us and do something active whilst raising much needed funds for us, we have various challenges running a little later on in the year including the Duchenne Dash on the 3rd July at Goodwood, our Annual Golf Day on the 23rd September and we still have places left for the Virtual London Marathon on the 3rd October.  Full details of all our planned events can be found on our website: www.alexswish.co.uk.

“I’d also like to thank, once again, all our supporters and fundraisers for their continued support and patience during these challenging times.”
