Royal Representatives attend KuKu Birthday plus more exciting updates!

The KuKu Annual Birthday Reception will receive Royal representatives on 16th November at PRYZM – make sure you book your complimentary tickets today to join us for one of the most important business events of the year.

Representing His Majesty The King and the Nottinghamshire Lieutenancy will be Mark Goldby, DL who is the county lead on one of the world’s most prestigious business awards, The Kings Awards for Enterprise.

This special Royal representative will also be joined by Hon. Air Commodore, Professor Veronica Pickering, MBS, DL, the High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, who is The King’s Judicial representative in relation to Law and Order. Our special guests will be joined by an array of dignitaries and leaders from across the region, giving businesses the opportunity to make valuable connections during the reception.

The KuKu Annual Birthday Reception celebrates businesses, the Armed Forces and community organisations from all over the Midlands and is free to attend and open to all organisations. MARK GOLDBY, DL

Born in Nottinghamshire, Mark Goldby’s business career spans 40 years working within major corporate organisations, through to his own award-wining electronics company. Holding numerous NED roles, Mark is also the Chair of the East Midlands Manufacturing Networks and sit on the Regional Advisory Board for Make UK, the largest manufacturing trade body in the country and sits on the Ministry of Defence’s Regional Employer Engagement Group (REEG) board in the East Midlands. Mark was Commissioned as a Deputy Lieutenant (DL) in 2016 in recognition of his achievements in business and service to charity and the community. Mark is a one of the leading advocates for business and rural affairs in the county, with Mark’s own business being given an Enterprise Award by the late Queen.

VERONICA PICKERING, MBS, DL

Professor Veronica Pickering, born in Kenya, moving with her parents to the UK in the 1960’s. With a career in the Public sector of over 25 years in Social Care and in international child protection, as a consultant to the UN, Veronica is very much a social entrepreneur, currently working as an executive coach and supporting a number of third sector organisations, with a focus on championing diversity and inclusion. Appointed by Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to the role of Honorary Air Commodore to the 504 (County of Nottingham Squadron) a senior role within the Royal Air Force. In 2022 Veronica was awarded the title of Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS) by HE the President of Kenya, being the only woman in the UK to be bestowed with this honour and the first Black Woman in Nottinghamshire to be appointed by The King to the role of High Sheriff for 2023-24.
